Yesterday, I received news that the only other woman I called “Mom” (besides my own Mother) had passed away suddenly the day before.
It was a terrible shock, as I had been tracking her recent illness and progress via my friend’s FB statuses and text messages. They had done emergency surgery and installed a pacemaker and everything seem to be on the upswing; but she passed away peacefully the following day.
It’s been very difficult to accept, and in my grief I have not felt up to blogging very much; so you’ll have to forgive me if I go silent for a while…

Michael Stark, left, and Michael Leshner kiss after their marriage in Ontario Superior Court in Toronto on Tuesday, June 10, 2003.
“Monday June 10th 2013 marked the 10th anniversary of Canada’s first same-sex marriage. Aren’t we all relieved, as some then predicted, that the sky didn’t fall, God didn’t smite our great nation and that heterosexual marriage didn’t lose any of its lustre.”
“Toronto couple Michael Stark and Michael Leshner, who got hitched on June 10, 2003, are still married. In fact, they are 32 years into a committed relationship that should put the “traditional” marriage of many straight couples, including more than a few Bible-thumping evangelical pastors, to shame.”
Same-Sex Marriage Has Made Canada A Better Country
The Grand Prix weekend (June 7-9) is always big business for Montreal, with tourists usually spending $90 million on hotels, restaurants, bars and other entertainment.
Apparently it’s also the Montreal sex industry’s busiest week of the year…

“Ontario now boasts the most dated sexual education curriculum in Canada, largely untouched since 1998. A coalition called on Premier Kathleen Wynne to shepherd sexual education into the 21st century.”
“But while Ontario is certainly the runt province when it comes to sex education, programs across the country aren’t that much more up to date. British Columbia’s program, for example, lacks any obvious guidelines for discussing oral sex, and only mentions sexual orientation and gender identity in the realms of stereotyping and discrimination. Same goes for Alberta. While Manitoba seems to be the most progressive of the lot, incorporating strategies for discussing oral sex and the so-called morning after pill, it still excludes meaningful policy on the topics of sexual orientation, online relationship, and gay sex. These are weighty omissions. Like it or not, kids are doing these things.”
How is this affecting today’s youth?

Although the concept is something that us kinksters seem to have been aware of for some time; a recent study seems to have opened up the eyes of the scientific community.
“Despite the fact that their sexual preferences are listed in the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders as potentially problematic, people who play with whips and chains in the bedroom may actually be more psychologically healthy than those who don’t.”
“A new study finds that practitioners of bondage, discipline, sadism and masochism, or BDSM, score better on a variety of personality and psychological measures than “vanilla” people who don’t engage in unusual sex acts. A new study, published May 16 in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, finds that, in fact, BDSM practitioners may be better off psychologically than the general public.”
