House For Sale With Dungeon Makes The News

So a house in Philadelphia went up for sale yesterday that included a private basement BDSM dungeon, complete with kink furniture and equipment, and has become known as “50 Shades of Maple Glen“.

Philadelphia House with private dungeon up for sale

The US$750,000 house was posted on sites such as Zillow & Redfin, popular online realtor listing services, and quickly became viral (because apparently these things totally fascinate the Vanillas), however the controversy had the dungeon photos removed from many online listings.

However, the realtor still has the entire set of photos on their own realtor listing:

Kinky Sex Is The New Norm in Quebec?

Today the local Montreal Gazette posted an article discussing the growing kinkiness of Quebecers.

While our province has always been known for its linguistic tensions, the study by researchers Christian Joyal and Julie Carpentier shows that we may soon become known for something much more erotic: our rather risqué sexual proclivities.

Handcuffs, blindfolds, spanking — Joyal said there is significant interest among Quebecers in engaging in those types of sexual activities. People aren’t just fantasizing about it, he added; they wish to do it.

Nearly half of the 1,040 Quebecers surveyed (45.6 per cent) have an interest in at least one type of sexual behaviour considered anomalous, like voyeurism, fetishism and masochism. One third of them had experienced the behaviour at least once.

Retired Dominatrix Considering Outing Canadian Politicians

dominatrix_terri

Former dominatrix Terri-Jean Bedford has sent a letter to sex workers across Canada asking for feedback on whether she should reveal the names of politicians she claims have employed sex workers.

Bedford, who led the legal battle that overturned Canada’s prostitution laws, threatened to name naughty politicians at a Senate hearing last month into C-36, the law the Conservative government is bringing in to make it illegal to buy sex.

Releasing a list would “show the hypocrisy of those who want to impose their will on others while themselves engaging in the very behaviour they want to others to stop.” She also suggests that her plan would keep the issue in the public eye. “Nothing attracts media attention as much as politics combined with scandals of this kind.

Retired dominatrix Terri-Jean Bedford was escorted by security out of a Senate committee meeting after refusing to heed the chair’s warning that her allotted speaking time had run out — but not before threatening to make politicians “forget about Mike Duffy.

The woman who won a Supreme Court challenge to Canada’s prostitution laws told committee members that the government’s proposal to criminalize buyers of sex would “make Canada the laughingstock of the world.

Article: Online Trolls are Sadists?

Trolls

If you’ve ever complained that the trolls junking up online comment sections are a bunch of sadistic psychopaths, you might be onto something. An online survey by a group of Canadian researchers suggests that Internet trolls are more likely than others to show signs of sadism, psychopathy and “Machiavellianism”: a disregard for morality and tendency to manipulate or exploit others.

“It was sadism, however, that had the most robust associations with trolling of any of the personality measures,” says an article by psychologists from the University of Manitoba, University of Winnipeg and University of British Columbia. “In fact, the associations between sadism and … scores were so strong that it might be said that online trolls are prototypical everyday sadists.” Sadism is a tendency to take pleasure in other people’s pain or discomfort.

Thought-provoking gender-swapped version of “Blurred Lines” music video

There’s been a lot of controversy over the misogynistic video of “Blurred Lines” by Robin Thicke. It has been blasted by critics as being disparaging to women.

Luckily for us, an awesome parody has been created by Mod Carousel, a Seattle-based Boylesque troup, and features new tweaked lyrics, new male models and new props.

Mod Carousel addresses some of its own concerns with the original “Blurred Lines” video:

“It’s our opinion that most attempts to show female objectification in the media by swapping the genders serve more to ridicule the male body than to highlight the extent to which women get objectified and does everyone a disservice,” the group explains. “We made this video specifically to show a spectrum of sexuality as well as present both women and men in a positive light, one where objectifying men is more than alright and where women can be strong and sexy without negative repercussions.”

Here is the original unrated version of “Blurred Lines”, for comparison:
