Off to the movies… and a Moolatte

Dairy Queen Moolatte

One of my Domme friends is about to head out of the city again and won’t be back until early September, so we’ve decided to make it a Dom/Domme threesome and head out and catch a flick. It’s her choice this time, so we are catching “Land of the Dead” at the Dollar Cinema in central Montreal. She’s about the only one who will watch horror flicks with me!

Afterwards, we are gonna treat ourselves to some “Mega-Moolattés” at a local Dairy Queen. Gee, I’ve gotten several friends hooked on those this summer. Sooooo, much better than those iced caps over at Tim Hortons, although I do have a thing going for their regular hot French Vanilla cappuccinnos.

Gotta run and start to get ready; gotta beat traffic as the movie starts at 5:30PM.

Annual PowWow Trip

PowWow

It’s been a very hectic two weeks… I had to prepare and pack for another trip to the Maritimes — and with a non-functioning air conditioner in the main living area of the house, it was extremely muggy and exhausting.

I left around 4 am Wednesday morning (July 13th), and at least that meant that it was marginally cool driving, since the air conditioner in the car was on the fritz again. The dealer had refilled it with coolant and added a tagger to trace the leak, and sure enough, it had started leaking again — so no more A/C on the drive down. Starting around the New Brunswick border, it rained off an on for the rest of the drive to Miramichi. Luckily, I had replaced my wipers while I stopped in Edmunston, as during the drive through the desolate Plaster Rock park, it rained extremely heavily. There is almost no shoulder on that back road, and very few places safe enough to pull over, so it was actually safer to keep on driving, albeit a very slow 50-70 km. The rain was so loud pouring down that I had to have the sound system blaring just to hear the music over the rain hitting the car’s exterior!

I arrived in Miramichi around 8pm Thursday the 14th, and dropped into my Aunt and Uncle’s place to see if anyone was home. No one there. Ok, off to the powwow grounds to find a good spot and at least set up my screen tent. Figures, it rains again while I am trying to put it up, but some very friendly neighbours helped me to get it up quite quickly. I also added the side tarps, to protect the interior from rain, so the ground wouldn’t be soaked the next day and I could put down my ground sheet. Finished up just as the last of the daylight was going and drove over to my relatives and spent the night recuperating from the long drive.

Next day I slept in a bit and ran some errands; such as going to the bank to make sure I had enough bills for change and picked up a Subway sandwich to eat later, as well as some Tim Horton’s French Vanilla, tea biscuits for a quick breakfast, as well as a half dozen muffins, also for later.

I must admit that Miramichi is one of my favorite powwows, because it is big enough to draw a good variety of people but not so huge as to become a major commercial style event. The organizers do a very good job and the grounds themselves, located beside the Miramichi river, are beautiful. They are also one of the few powwows left that do not charge either the vendors or the attendees, which certainly helps both in terms of variety of goods on display, as well as the growing number of visitors. I understand that this year drew about 3,000 people, practically twice as big as last year.

I didn’t get to see as much of the activities up close as I did last year, as there was more crowd between my tent and the dance circle. I also rarely had relatives drop by to spell me for bathroom breaks; my Aunt dropped by for an hour on Sunday so that I could actually take some photos of the dancers and their regalia — otherwise I pretty well would have missed the best of it. Did meet a hoop dancer from Maniwaki who turned out to be the niece of one of our very old family friends; pretty cool how small a world it is sometimes!

Saturday night had a fireworks show, quite tiny compared to the annual International Fireworks Competition we have in Montreal, but it is located much closer to the spectators, so comparitively speaking it seems quite large and impressive. Was quite fun to watch as I haven’t seen that many fireworks this year…

The entire weekend was extremely hot and muggy; at one point, my travel clock that features a temperature sensor, measured a high of 38.5 degrees Celcius in the shade of my tent. Outside in the sun, it measured 50 degrees Celcius or 120 degrees Farenheit. I even took a digital pic of the temperature reading, because I was sure that nobody would believe me later… So many people commented on how cool my tent was compared to outside, so the shade was definitely a bonus for attracting and keeping potential clients to look and shop for my charm bracelets that much longer…

I didn’t do quite as well as last year (about $100 less), but there were so many more vendors than last year that the visitor’s spending money was probably spread that much thinner as a result. Still, a good part of it will go towards the repair costs for the car’s A/C unit, as well as other expenses. It was also very nice to spend some time with my Aunt, Uncle and cousins, and my Mom took the train from NS to join us, so I drove her back and I am currently spending some time here in Nova Scotia.

A Hot & Knotty Saturday…

Male bound in black rope

Since I didn’t make it to the June 3rd Fetish Friday event, I’ve been real antsy to get out and have some kinky fun. Both of my male subs are gone to Europe, and my femsub is working 2 jobs and therefore unavailable, so play-wise, I am currently temporarily sub-less.

Got to chat over the phone with my FemDomme friend Lady August Joy and we decided to attend “Le Chateau” together. We’ve already done some scenes together, particularly on my sub jon and really play quite well together.

Saturday the 11th was also the day of one of the local munches, but it was supposed to be a picnic munch and with all the hot muggy weather, neither I nor any of my friends felt up to it, and decided to skip it and rest up for the evening’s fun instead.

So I picked up August Joy in my car (finally got the A/C fixed – Yeah!), so we had a nice refreshing drive out to the eastern part of the island to “Le Chateau”. Luckily we found parking right across the street, which was a good thing, since I was hauling a fairly hefty pack with a large part of my kinky toy collection inside and it was rather heavy. (Never mind the half dozen riding crops sticking out one end…)

Hmmmmmm… they rearranged some of the interior of Le Chateau, including several large drape/curtains across the doorway entrances to some of the rooms, to keep the air conditioned air contained within. The back “comfy room” as I’ve taken to calling it, has been transformed into a sort of mini-theater, with a projection screen showing kinky films. The ones they were showing were without sound and relatively short and were on repeat. Unfortunately, it is now too dark in the room to even see others in order to have a decent conversation. I did find some tealights set out and lit them, which helped a bit…

I dug out my trio of new books to share with Lady August while we waited for more folk to arrive. Also showed her my new riding crops and my new set of beautiful black bondage ropes. A francophone gentleman sitting across the way was also quite interested so I let him see them too. A conversation ensued where he discovered that we were “sub-less” for the evening and offered himself for our use. He was gentle-natured and quite pleasing to the eye and so after some discussion, we decided to take him up on the offer.

The three of us went upstairs, where I had discovered one of the other play rooms was now much better lit and much cooler. Since he was a relative newcomer to the scene, we decided to take it quite easy on him as we were not familiar with all of his reactions, etc.

August and I decided to use the sawhorse for our play and I proceeded to use my new ropes to restrain him, binding his wrists and wrapping his waist/ lower back area to both hold him and protect his kidneys from any flogging. We noticed he had a mild sunburn and put a cool wet cloth across his shoulders to keep him from overheating. I also kept one nearby for myself, as the room tended to warm up from people coming in and out of the room to watch, letting the cool air escape.

I blindfolded him to keep him on the alert and to heighten the experience, something he later said really worked quite well on him. Between the two of us, we warmed up his cheeks to a nice rosy glow with some spanking, my selection of riding crops and my red flogger.

Later, I untied him from the sawhorse and proceeded to do a Shibari-style diamond body harness on him. While August proceeded to tease his nipples, I took out some more of my rope, this time a finer white cord and started to wrap up his uncircumcised cock for some light CBT. It definitely did something for him, as he started to get hard…

We played a while longer, but kept it to about an hour, as it was getting so warm that it was very uncomfortable for us and we needed to rest. Before he went off to shower, he mentioned that if we wanted to play again later, he would be more than willing to offer himself again, but neither of us was really up to doing a whole scene again due to the heat. It sure can be hard work, especially in the muggy heat…

We rested on the couches for a while, talking with others. I briefly got to meet Softskin (from ALT) and her husband. Several people made comments on my large and heavy bag of toys, and I ended up taking out my books again and some of my goodies to share/show the others.

One of my Dom friends, Spike, was there with a femsub named aria, and asked if I would be willing to try some of my bondage on her. I was fairly restored by then and decided to give it a go. She was a fair bit taller than me, so it was a bit of a challenge.

I joined my two 24 foot ropes, so that I could attempt a “Mermaid” style full body harness, using a Shibari-inspired diamond pattern, and a crossed arms behind the back rope restraint.

Wow. Gorgeous!

It turned out quite nice if I do say so myself… I was VERY pleased with my work as that is the first time that I got to try that particular effect.

Spike proceeded to lift and move her carefully over to the imposing black wall cross, where, with a bit of my help in positioning her feet, we mounted her on the footstand. I proceeded to stabilize her with rope from her elbows to the cross arms and he blindfolded her with a scarlet red bandana. I thought that all that black with a touch of red in her blond hair made for a striking composition — as did Spike (he is a fetish photographer too). I wish I had been allowed to have my camera with me as it made for a delightful pose.

Spike got to have some nice playtime with her bound so nicely to the cross, before he took his time undoing the rope work, learning some of the pattern work by doing so.

I think that perhaps Spike and I might collaborate more in the future, doing some fetish photography of some of my bondage art works. I’ll have to keep an eye out for potential models…. any offers anyone?

All in all, a delightful evening at Le Chateau, if somewhat tiring from the heat and mugginess. But it felt so nice to be back among kinky folk and to have some playtime.

Lady August and I decided to stop by a Tim Hortons for a quick bite and something refreshing to drink before I dropped her off. I decided to spoil myself and try their new mini chocolate cheesecake, but I wasn’t impressed because it was too chewy for cheesecake, it was more like fudge. The iced cappucinno was also not great, as it separates much too easily into coffee water and ice. I *much* prefer the iced “Moolattas” from Dairy Queen — they are much more rich and remind me somewhat of a coffee milkshake. The DQ ones come in variety of flavours too; French Vanilla (my fave), cappuccino, moka and caramel.

It was dawn by the time I dropped her off and the rosy skies cheered me as I drove home tired but pleased by my night of kinky fun…

There & Back Again… (with apologies to JRR Tolkien)

Blue Rain

So, I am back from the past few days on the road, from central Nova Scotia, southwards to Halifax and then out to Cape Breton and back again…

We were only in Halifax for a few hours; I was bringing my Mom to some business meeting. Despite some major road construction in downtown Halifax, I was able to find some parking near my favorite little candy shop, called “Freak Lunchbox”. They have the weirdest and most fun stuff there — almost every type of candy you can imagine and some you’ve never heard of. Also, many brands that we normally don’t get in Canada. They even had several types of “Simpsons” brand mints (as in the animated series).

I couldn’t resist buying an old-fashioned potato gun; I haven’t seen one of those things since I was really young. Also, a cherry-flavoured gummy pet rat, some authentic “Turkish Delight” (for any of you who’ve ever read “The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe”) and various other bags of goodies. I got out of there with my wallet $35 lighter. But at least I’m not alone… apparently Rob Lowe spent over $90 in that store not long ago and Cybil Sheppard called it “A delightful little store”.

From there I ventured up the street and to my utter delight, I discovered a little shop called “Venus Envy” that I had heard about online. They also have another location in Ottawa. Finally found a copy of Midori’s rope bondage book and picked it up. (I know I could have ordered it online, but I am from the old school of those who prefer to leaf through a book for myself to decide whether it’s worthwhile, before plunking down $40-ish CDN for it.)

Also picked up a great sort of DIY book on how to make all kinds of kinky crafts, toys, tools and furniture. Has all kinds of illustrations and photos. I’m looking forward to having fun with that one, as I’ve always loved creating things with my own hands. That one cost me $55, but it’s a huge softcover that is comparable in size to a big Sears catalog. The name escapes me for the moment, because the book is in a bag in my car. (The Better Bondage Book)

I also picked up a tiny but great handbook on Wax Play, that has some recipes on DIY low heat candles, as I’ve been wanting to create my own, in order to better control the quantity and quality of the ingredients. (I’m a stickler for that sort of thing.)

And lastly, 20 feet of exquisitely beautiful black braided cotton rope. I had seen the same rope at my local Reno Depot at around $2.25 a foot, but there it only cost $1 a foot!

So — an expensive outing that lasted only an hour, and I walked out of there about $140 lighter. So, about $175 for the day and it wasn’t even lunchtime yet! (Aren’t Platinum Mastercards wonderful?) Ouch… but I am very pleased with my purchases and will have lots of fun with them when I get back to Montreal.

I showed my Mom the rope when I picked her up after her meeting and she agreed that it was very nice quality and a very good price too. I also told her about the books I bought and I even explained the basics of wax play on the return drive.

(I know I am repeating myself, but I am sooooooo lucky to have such a *amazingly cool* Mom!)

We stopped at the MicMac Mall in Dartmouth for a bite to eat before heading back north out of the city. Stopped at Mom’s place for a few hours nap and supper, before packing the car and heading out for the 4 hour drive to Sydney, Cape Breton.

Only a bit of rain on the way there and some fog and mist, which of course, slowed down the driving again. We arrived at my Uncle’s in Sydney at about 2 am. I unpacked and managed to unwind with a half hour game of Galactic Battlegrounds on my laptop before catching some ZZZZzzzzzs.

The next day was busy running errands and dropping off promotional material around the city while my Mom was attending her conference. I got a fair bit accomplished in such a short time, so I felt quite happy at the end of the day. We got my Saturn packed up again and hit the road at around 8 pm, only minutes before the downpour started.

Have I mentioned how much it’s rained since I’ve been down here?

Yes?

Well, I’m *really* getting tired of it, as are my aching knees. (I had a hiking accident in Calfornia over 10 years ago and my knees haven’t been the same since…)

We arrived back at my Mom’s a bit after 2 am, but that included a short meal break at a Tim Hortons in Port Hawkesbury. I plugged in my laptop and checked for any important email (again resorting to the agonizingly slow dial-up) and then channel surfed the satellite channels until I was tired/relaxed enough to actually fall asleep.

Was hoping to get some more errands done today (Friday) but the rainy weather (yet again) put a literal damper on things and I took it easy and stayed in and recuperated from the week’s hectic driving schedule around the province.

Not too sure what my weekend holds at this point, as some of it will depend on the weather. I might try to get some work done on my laptop if I’m stuck in again…

Man, I am *so* going into withdrawal from my high-speed cable internet access at home in Montreal — as well as from my usual kinky activities. Ahhhh, but that which does not kill us makes us stronger… or so they say.

So, what does your weekend look like? No rain I hope… Please tell me that you are having more fun and are having better weather than here? TALK TO ME PEOPLE, I’M GOING NUTS OUT HERE!!

The Long Journey Eastward..

Bluenose

Ugh, I’ve just spent 24 hours in a car, driving from Montreal to the Maritimes.

My Mom (see my earlier blog of May 7) was in Ottawa earlier this week for a business conference and I had offered to drive her back to Nova Scotia, in order to spend some time with her and get some miscellaneous business-related paperwork taken care of while I was there.

Since my Mom doesn’t drive, it was entirely up to me to drive the 18+ hours to get us out there. However, I’ve had a lot of experience with long drives since my family used to make the Quebec-Maritimes trek at least 1-2 times a year when I was younger.

I ended up taking 3 two hour rest/sleep breaks, so it was a total of around 24 hours of being in the car. Mind you, I have a nicely appointed Saturn wagon with tinted windows and all the luxury options, and I have the back seat fixed up with comfy blankets and pillows so I can crawl in the back stretched out — after all, I am only 5 foot tall.

We stopped briefly just before Quebec City/Lévis to get our “fix” at a 24h Tim Hortons. (For those non-Canadians who might be reading this blog, Tim’s is a very popular nationwide chain of coffee shops.) I had my usual French Vanilla Cappucino. I now have several of my friends hooked on FV, including my best friend, Lady Katana. Mom and I shared a large grilled turkey club and some soup – I don’t like to eat heavy when I drive as it can make me sleepy.

There was an awful lot of fog during the journey, starting out from just west of Riviere-du-Loup QC until Edmunston NB. After that, there was misty rain, which was just a bit too light for my rain repellent to work very well on the windshield. It did rain much harder later on that night, so it was worthwhile putting it on after all… On long trips, I prefer night driving, as the traffic is much lighter and the sun doesn’t bother my eyes so much. (I have above average vision, so I am highly sensitive to bright ambient daylight.)

We dropped by my Aunt’s place in New Brunswick, as we had to drop off some package or other for her. Only time for a nap, a meal and then on the road again… Mom wanted to take a short cut to avoid having to drive all the way through Miramichi, but it ended up being the wrong road near the wrong set of two bridges. We were grumbling at each other, but as the driver, I had final say — especially when I pointed out that the GPS signal on my PDA was showing us as travelling parallel to the route upon which we had come into town. Meaning that we were backtracking and heading in the wrong direction!

I finally stated that I would rather drive through the city and take an extra 10 minutes, than spend another 20 minutes trying to find the so-called backroad shortcut. Then I remembered this great little ice cream shack along the road that my Aunt had taken us last summer to that had the most scrumptious Strawberry Ice Cream Shortcake and decided that was exactly what I needed to get me out of the grumpy mood I was in after Mom got us lost/sidetracked with her “shortcut”.

Yummmmmmmmmmmmm

Wow……. just melted in my mouth.

Yup, exactly what I needed.

Mom had a frozen yogurt and then we were off again. After going a bit on the road, we realized that there was a second set of two bridges, after a big curve that matched the map we had and indeed was the one we were seeking to the shortcut. So we both felt better realizing that she had been partly right, but the landmarks were so similar to what we had seen farther out of town, that it hadn’t really been wrong, and that my call about the GPS had kept us from getting even more lost. Anyways, everything always looks better after strawberries & ice cream…

The fog and mist continued on and off, but it was at it’s worst as we crossed over “Folly’s Mountain” shortly after crossing into Nova Scotia on the Trans-Canada Hwy. It was so bad that the trucks all had their blinkers on and I actually had to drive in the left passing lane (it was a divided highway) so that I could see the yellow painted band on the left side, as the middle stripes and right side band were too worn. It was the only way I could tell where the edge of the road was! Wow, sometimes I forget how bad the fog can get out here…

Arrived to late to catch the local broadcast of the CSI season finale, but since my Mom’s place has satellite TV we were able to catch a more western broadcast starting at midnight. After that, I stayed up to catch the tail-end of the remake of “Planet of the Apes” as I was still too alert after the drive to fall asleep right away.

Slept relatively well, considering that it isn’t my pillow-laden and duvet-covered waterbed at home. But it was especially nice that Rusty, my late father’s little dog, remembered me and forsaked everyone else to sleep with me all night on the couch and followed me to sleep in my Mom’s bed after she left for work. It was funny too, because during the drive, I had a dream that Rusty was sitting there waiting for me. I guess in some way he was… the two of us “clicked” extremely well last year after my Dad died and I spent several months out here helping my Mom get her life back together. He used to love going driving around with me and kept me company all the time. He transferred his affections to my Mom after I left to go back to Montreal, but it’s nice to feel he hasn’t forgotten me…

It’s been raining off and on all day since I got here. I’ve been taking the day fairly easy, trying to recuperate from the drive. Spent an hour trying to connect my laptop to the Net; last time I used to be able to instantly connect to the high-speed line, but something’s been changed on their system and I’ve had to make due with a backup dial-up account that I have for emergencies. (Jeez, after using high-speed and cable internet for the past year, dial-up is interminably slow.)

Will try to post more blog updates when I can during my trip, but web access may be intermittent so no guarantees.

Wishing everyone well while I am away!

Recuperating from the weekend’s fetish fun!

Montreal at night

Well, today has been a wonderfully lazy Monday for me. In some ways I still feel like I am recuperating from this past weekend, but in a wonderful way as I am still feeling very high from all of it.

Starting around Wednesday last week, things started falling into place for having a group of several of us attending Club Sin’s Fetish Friday event. They are held on the 1st and 3rd friday of each month, and I knew I would be out of town for the second one.

We ended up with, ummmm, lets see: Myself, my Dom partner Master Michael, my male sub jon, a new Domme friend I met last month and two of her friends and the last minute addition of Red Claws, who is a part of my Club Fetish gang. So 7 of us in total.

Master Michael and I arrived a bit later than we hoped; parking was hell downtown, but then again it was one of the first really nice weekends in Montreal and people were out “in masse” on Saint Catherine street. In fact, just around the corner from Club Cleo, there was an entire a block and half of motorcycles parked side by side — looked like something out of a Bike & Motor show. Wow, what an assemblage of motor power; it was kinda hot and sexy to see all that chrome and horsepower in one place out in the open.

We finally got parked and up to Club Cleo just before 11 pm and found some of our party already there. We moved over to my favorite large corner booth (the one on the upper tier with the “fence”) and commandeered most of it. (There was a couple in the corner that stayed all night, with her in a full jute or hemp rope body harness under her skirt and blouse and him making subtle adjustments to it most of the night.)

As many of my friends know, I am very much a people-watcher and Fetish Fridays are a great source of observation for all sorts of BDSM, fetish, goth, vampire, leather & latex lovers, as well as a variety of TG/TV/CD folk. A virtual smorgasbord of kinksters! I love it!

Over the months, we’ve gradually given descriptive nicknames to some of the regulars we’ve seen but do not know personally. (It makes it easier to describe who and what kind of crowd were there to somebody who couldn’t make it.)

There is one very slightly built young man that we’ve affectionately dubbed “Bouncy Boy” who *always* dresses in the same head to toe black latex, complete with gloves and full head hood. The name derives from his dancing style which reminds of us a string marionette being bounced up and down. He is quite the active dancer, which has me wondering how exactly he can handle the heat, since it can get quite warm in the club, never mind with all that latex. I certainly admire his endurance!

There was one guy who had us giggling all night… Someone dubbed him “Crooked Thong” for his habit of keeping his thong strap waaaay over on his left butt cheek — it just looked sooooo wrong. I am *so* lucky I wasn’t sipping on my drink when he was first pointed out to me; I would have spiffed it everywhere! I mean, why wear a thong if you are not going to wear it properly? If you really can’t stand the feel of a thong strap between your butt cheeks, why not wear a jockstrap style with the two straps on either side?

I was, however, very pleased to see Maitre Pierre and Mistress Catherine and one of their subs, sabine (dressed in full sissy gear) at the event. I hadn’t seen them since a few weeks back at the local slosh they organized. (A slosh is a bit like a munch but usually held in the evening over drinks and perhaps some munchies, but not usually a full meal.) If you’ve ever watched the show “Kink” on Showcase, Maitre Pierre and Mistress Catherine and their subs were featured on the Montreal-based series, which has been showing this past season.

Mistress Catherine introduced me to Domina Jade at their table. I thought I recognized the name and asked if she also went by AsianKinkySiren online. Indeed, it WAS her and it was such a pleasure to meet her. Later on in the evening, when some of our booth was freed up, I invited her to join our tables. We chatted as best we could with the loud music and discovered that we had quite a bit in common — it was a great way to end the night!

I slept in on Saturday until around noon; I had a great night’s sleep and woke well rested and refreshed. I chatted on the phone with one of my Domme friends, Lady Katana, who lives quite near to me. She needed to run some errands too, so Master Michael and I picked her up in our car and we all did our errands together, as it made the day less tedious and more fun. It’s so delightful having friends who have as warped a sense of humour as you do; it’s nice not to have to explain the pop/media references, the movie quotes, etc.

At the end of the day’s errands, I treated everyone to our favorites at the local Tim Hortons coffee shop — extra large French Vanilla Cappuccinos for Lady Katana and myself, and an Iced Cappuccino for Master Michael. Mmmmmmm…. what a great way to end the day!

Sunday was quite leisurely and easy-going as well, with a few phone calls to track down my Mom and give her my best wishes and an afternoon visit to Master Michael’s Mom to deliver some flowers and spend some time with her… I spent a good part of the evening catching up on email, surfing the Net and working on installing some new software for the Club Fetish site. All in all, a great weekend.

I’m already in the planning stages for this coming weekend’s events; a fetish play party sponsored by Il Bolero on Friday the 13th (they recently changed the date so it wouldn’t conflict with other similar events) and changed the location to a new bar, Club L’Eclipse. I’ve never been to it, as it was always held on the same day as the Club Sin Fetish Fridays, and I love those. I’m hoping to check it out with my sub and a Domme friend so we can do a review of it for Club Fetish.

On Saturday the 14th, there is a BDSM-themed night being held at Le Chateau. Again my sub jon, and another Domme friend of mine are planning on attending, as we had such a great time there together last month, with some other of our friends.

This will be my last weekend in town before heading out to the Maritimes until the end of the month… Things are certainly more “rural” out there as regards the BDSM & Fetish scenes, so I want to fill my system to last me until I get back!!
