A friend of mine came to visit me on Friday evening, haven’t seen him in quite some time, as he only just returned from Eastern Europe. We went and did some techie-shopping together and he bought me a new iSight webcam so that we could keep in touch more often. (His cellphone reception sucks in his neck of the woods.)
I had been wanting one for a while now, but kept putting it off due to the price. So, I spent a good part of the weekend testing and tweaking it, seeing if I could get it to work with other IM and chat systems besides Apple’s default iChat.
MSN is not compatible with Mac for video chat, so an online chatter suggested I download aMSN and give it a try. I’ve been fiddling with preferences, forwarding ports, firewalls and such — with still no success. Mind you, I’m trying to get it to work with the ALT chats, and fellow Mac users know how uncooperative ALT is for making their site Mac-friendly…. grrrrrrr!
Anyways, I’ll be playing and tweaking it more during the next while; so you never know — someday you might cross paths with me in the group chatrooms and maybe see me on my webcam…
