Although the concept is something that us kinksters seem to have been aware of for some time; a recent study seems to have opened up the eyes of the scientific community.
“Despite the fact that their sexual preferences are listed in the fifth edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders as potentially problematic, people who play with whips and chains in the bedroom may actually be more psychologically healthy than those who don’t.”
“A new study finds that practitioners of bondage, discipline, sadism and masochism, or BDSM, score better on a variety of personality and psychological measures than “vanilla” people who don’t engage in unusual sex acts. A new study, published May 16 in the Journal of Sexual Medicine, finds that, in fact, BDSM practitioners may be better off psychologically than the general public.”

As BDSM and kink continue to go more mainstream, it’s coverage in the media continues. This time there is a fairly positive news article to be found in today’s New York Times…
“On a recent Friday night, a small group of people lined up in a cinder-block hallway inside an unmarked entrance to Paddles, a club on West 26th Street. Two men in their 60s were discussing real estate and a few women in their 20s were sending last-minute texts before going down two flights to the subterranean space.”
“Paddles is not another trendy table tennis emporium, but a “safe space” to live out erotic fantasies, specifically BDSM (bondage/discipline, domination/submission, sadism/masochism), OTK (over the knee; in other words, spanking), and an alphabet soup’s worth of other sexual practices that, until recently, have gone largely unnoticed and undiscussed by the mainstream world.”

Christina’s latest video, “Not Myself Tonight”, shows her in a variety of fetish wear, ranging from more standard latex dresses, ballet high heels, wigs of all lengths and styles, all the way to rhinestone bondage and mouth gag.
Have a look for yourself:
An excerpt from a From a 2004 print interview with Christina Aguilera, quotes her as saying:
“If a lover wants to experiment with handcuffs, then that’s fair enough for me! What’s the point of holding back that side of your personality if it’s horny and turns you both on?”
Although she may not win a lot of fans in the mainstream world with this extreme video (by vanilla standards), I’m sure she will gain a growing following amongst the kink community!
So what do you think? Too much, or not enough? What are your favourite parts of the video? (Sane, respectfully-toned comments are welcome…)
